The Vice Chancellor for Research of the National University of San Agustín de Arequipa, Dr. Horacio Barreda Tamayo, announced that for this year the Casa Agustina will have 28 new Research Centers.
The laboratories will be inaugurated throughout this year and will be added to the 12 already existing. In total, UNSA will have 40 Technology Research and Development Centers (CIDETIS) that will be part of the First Arequipa Technology Park, whose operation is also planned for this year.
The CIDETIS developed for research purposes are valued, each, in about 2 million soles financed with mining canon funds and have the latest equipment, several of them unique in Peru, as required by the Augustinian authority.
Their operation is a determining factor to develop high level research in the region. “Its incorporation into the Science and Technology Park will allow working with companies to generate innovation, produce new goods and services that can be marketed with the support of the university and its research centers,” said Dr. Barreda.
He also indicated that co-investigations will be carried out with leading universities worldwide for companies in our region and the country, promoting technological development that will generate more employment for the population and foreign exchange for the country.
